Ian Wright is so confident ‘brilliant’ Chelsea player can get even better under another manager

It is not every day you hear an Arsenal legend say something good about Chelsea.

But that is what Ian Wright has just done, recently highlighting the qualities of one Chelsea star.

For once, it is not Cole Palmer despite the 21-year-old having an excellent season. In 40 appearances for the Blues, he has come up with 36 goal contributions.

Chelsea’s biggest threat after that is probably Nicolas Jackson. He has scored 13 goals in all competitions.

Jackson has spent most of the campaign up front, but it has been claimed that his position could change going forward.

Ian Wright confident Chelsea player can get better

Jackson has missed a lot of chances this season. Perhaps a move from the striker position to the flank will benefit him and the team.

Whatever the case, Wright likes some of the stuff that he has seen from the 22-year-old and has suggested that another manager may be able to unlock his full potential.

Speaking on his podcast Wrighty’s House, the Arsenal legend said: “I’m seeing Nicolas Jackson by the way. I watched him fully again yesterday [Saturday] and I have watched him in the last three or four games and the chances that he has missed always take precedent when people are talking about him, but I am seeing that guy’s pace, his link, his touch.

“Something is happening. If he gets that goalscoring right there is something in there, I’m telling you. He did some brilliant stuff. I have seen flashes that under the right manager, and if he has the energy and the mind and personality for it, this guy has got something. I am telling you.”

Nicolas Jackson goals this season

As mentioned earlier, Jackson has scored 13 goals for Chelsea during the 2023/24 campaign.

Ten of those have come in the Premier League, with the Senegal international netting against:

Looking at the above, Jackson has not really been able to make much of an impact in Chelsea’s big games.

His hat-trick against a nine-man Tottenham team and goal in the exciting 4-4 draw with City have been the only massive matches where he has truly punished the opposition.
