Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has addressed a petition created by fans to try and get him to stay at the club beyond this season.

The German coach has already confirmed that the current campaign would be his last at the Allianz, with those above him in the Bayern hierarchy pulling the trigger on Tuchel's reign back in February. On the domestic front, Bayern have largely underwhelmed, having lost their dominance on the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen taking the title.

Dumped out of the German cup by lower league opposition, the Champions League is all Bayern have left to play for this season. Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso was touted as a potential successor for Tuchel, but the Spaniard has since confirmed he'll be staying put.

Since then, the search for a new boss has become more difficult and ex- Manchester United interim Ralf Rangnick has been touted as an option, which has prompted some fans to plead with those running the club to backtrack on their decision to sack Tuchel and keep the ex- Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss in his current role.

After 12,000 signatures, Tuchel has since addressed the petition. The 50-year-old discussed it during his pre-match media duties before Bayern's Bundesliga clash with Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.

"Even though this topic is good for me when they [the fans] wish you to stay, it's not something that is a priority," Tuchel explained. "It isn't allowed to be a priority. In the next 11 days it's only about football, nothing else. Whether it's pleasant or unpleasant, I don't allow myself to be influenced by it."

The petition is clear in its aim and demands that the Bayern chiefs backtrack on their dismissal of Tuchel. It defends the boss, claiming he has had to operate with an 'injury-plagued' outfit.

The fans' statement reads: "FC Bayern decided to dismiss Thomas Tuchel in the summer after the defeat against VFL Bochum. What an atrocious decision!

"Thomas Tuchel, also known as 'Juppel', never had it easy in Munich. Despite the negative media coverage surrounding him and the personnel situation with the injury-plagued Munich team, the Champions League winner led his team to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

'With all due respect to candidates like [Unai] Emery or Rangnick, these coaches can't hold a candle to 'Juppel.'"
